Observations--7th and W. 11th St
Today I had to run an errand for work. I let in my boss's housekeeper b/c he forgot to unlock the deadbolt. I enjoy these menial errands b/c I get to see the city in action. I stopped to get a coffee at the local roasters. There were several people in there, some on their laptops, some ordering their perfect latte. This one chick, I think she was British, was talking loudly on the phone whilst stirring in her milk-sugar ratio into her drink. I wasn't really paying attention to what she was saying b/c the guy that was serving me was making weird comments. The song that was playing was the original sample song from Kanye West's Gold Digger song. He said to no one in particular, "Is this the lounge version of the Kanye song?" I just smiled, waiting patiently for my coffee. The British chick was leaving quite loudly and so everyone was paying attention when she yelled "Oh no" and dropped her phone while holding her coffee in one hand and trying to open the door. It was pretty hilarious and we all looked at each other and smiled. When does that happen? Usually one other person will make eye contact with me and we'll share a moment of understanding. But in this case it was all the people standing up that I saw, look toward me and each other to share our moments. No one said a word about it, just smiled and went back to our coffees.
